Red Fox Creative Cafe Program


The Red Fox Healthy Living Creative Cafe is a community engaged culturally inclusive, multi-disciplinary arts cafe series that will tour throughout communities in Coast Salish Territory. The Red Fox Healthy Living Society has proven delivery of programs that focus on child, family as well as youth leadership and development. In collaboration with community engaged artist J Peachy this project builds on the special events model. The Red Fox model includes active play and cultural drum circles, and the creative cafe model allows the program to outreach into other communities. Core values such as Indigenous cultural exchange, promotion of healthy eating choices and living, youth leadership and community creative expression are the heart of this program.

The creative cafe elements include:

Mobile Cafe – Showcasing healthy food choices, youth to develop skills and leadership experience in food service.
Performance Stage and Puppet theatre – Performance stage for cultural storytelling, drum circle, musical performances and puppet theatre skits
Active Play Area – Active play led by youth leaders to guide participants with physical literacy objectives in mind.
Pow Wow Drum – Red Fox Crew lead the children and community on the Pow Wow Drum.
Arts and Craft Making – artist led community art making provides opportunity for creative problem solving and creative expression. Art making would include sock puppets, button making, community canvas.
Environmental education – through storytelling, performance and puppetry we learn about the creatures that live among us.
