YOUTH INTERNSHIP 2020 PROGRAM
The Red Fox Youth Internship program provides youth facing barriers with the opportunity to gain employment skills and launch their careers in recreation, childcare and other rewarding fields. Interns job shadow and assist a team of staff and youth leaders to deliver physical literacy “Active Play” programs to children and environmental and recreation programs to youth. Interns are mentored by Indigenous Elders and artists. They learn critical digital and communication skills through workshops and projects. Then, they do a practicum placement with one of Red Fox Society’s community partners to try out their knowledge and skills in a new environment. The program length is 4 to 5 months and there are new intakes every 4 months.

RED FOX YOUTH IN THE SURREY LEADER
In August 2016, Red Fox launched new Active Play-Youth Leadership programming in Surrey, in partnership with the Surrey School District and the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC. The Surrey Leader spoke to some of the youth participants to find out how they feel about the program:
“I was really shy before I joined Red Fox,” said Muskego, 19, who is finishing his Grade 12 at City Central Learning Centre this fall. “I never really had programs like this when I was in school, so I feel like I’m giving these kids something more than I had, and now I would like to go to college as well.”
