Geocaching

Writer: Emery SimeonEmery Simeon

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunt that uses smart phones and GPS units to help participants find hidden “caches” while exploring nature. At special events during the spring and summer months, Red Fox Youth Leaders show youth and families how to geo-cache at local and regional parks throughout Metro Vancouver.

Geocaches come in different sizes and difficulty levels and can be found worldwide. In BC there are over 30,000 caches! Check out this video from the official Geocaching website to learn more.

Geocaching is a fun way to get outdoors and reconnect with nature. Youth and families work together to navigate the technology and terrain, while sharing Indigenous cultural teachings. Youth Leaders in our Youth Leadership Program get a chance to build up their confidence in leading groups that include adults and their peers.

It’s not hard to see why geocaching is one of our most popular special event programs! To discuss Red Fox Geocaching at your special event, please contact us.

See our calendar of events for details of current programs.
